The Shore Strides Process
Working with a Shore Strides tutor is a simple, convenient process.
We know our expert tutors and the customized instruction they deliver is at the core of our success, but our commitment to a high level of customer service as you learn about tutoring options and are connected with a tutor is also critical.
Here’s what to expect after you call, email us, and submit a request for the In-Home Consultation by completing the required form:
Step #1: Learn about Shore Strides Tutoring and Discuss Your Situation
Our Director will look forward to speaking to you to learn more about your particular situation, tutoring need, location, etc. and answers any questions about Shore Strides Tutoring or our tutors that you might have.
We will then set up a date/time to perform the In-Home Consultation.
Step #2: Learn about Available Tutors, Pricing, and Payment Options
Based on Step #1, we reach out to the tutors most likely to be a 'best fit' to confirm current availability. If we currently don't have a tutor on our Shore Strides Tutor Team we will post a tutoring service job announcement on the announcement board here on the website, utilize forms of social media to advertise the requirement, and so forth. Once we hear back from our tutors or find the match, we establish the 'best fit'. We’ll tell you that you’ll be billed in advance to confirm the first session, once you’re able to schedule a session with the tutor. However, that first session comes with a money back guarantee. We accept any major credit card, bank transfers, and can even accept physical checks mailed to our notice address upon request.
We’ll also tell you that after the first session, you’ll have the option to invest in a discounted hourly rate off the regular session rate based on the students grade level - See Tutoring Prices. Session Packages that have a down payment requirement will not come with a full refund due to the fact that the Tutor has already confirmed acceptance of the Shore Strides Tutor after the initial session, See 'Termination of Service' section on the Tutoring Prices Page for full details. Please note, only 1 discount rate special is allowed per student and tutoring services have to be utilized within the timeframe that it addresses; no refunds will be given.
You’ll also learn that you cannot bring cash or check to the first session with a tutor – you must provide payment in advance to confirm the session(s) through Shore Strides Tutoring. You can always cancel, as long as you provide 24 hours of notice. Not providing this notice results in a potential charge for one hour of tutoring.
Step #3: Get Connected with a Tutor and Discuss Logistics and Objectives
Next, we email you and your tutor, and instruct your tutor to reach out to you to discuss logistics and objectives (time, place, etc.) for the first session. If necessary, you and your tutor speak on the phone for 10-15 minutes to get acquainted and ensure there’s a 'Best Fit'.
Your tutor works with you to schedule a session in your home or at a local library. If possible, you send your tutor example problems, questions, etc. in advance so he or she can prepare before the session.
Step #4: Provide Payment to Confirm the First Session
At this point, although you’ve tentatively scheduled a session with your tutor, we send you an email-based invoice for the first hour through Quickbook Intuit Payment System. This first hour comes with a money back guarantee, and if you need to cancel your first session, you must do so prior to 24 hours before the session to avoid a late cancellation fee of up to the cost of one hour of tutoring. Once payment is provided, we notify the tutor, and everything is confirmed.
Step #5: Provide Feedback and Consider Additional Hours at a Discount
After that initial session, our Director will follow up to collect feedback. If this session goes well, you can invest in future stand alone sessions with the Tutor, 2 or more hours a week, a 5 or 10 session package, a 15 session package, a half year (20/26) or full year (40/52) session package. All packages require a five session down payment to confirm the package of choice, see Tutoring Pricing. Beyond the down payment charge (if applicable), we will send bills on the 1st and 16th of every month that you receive tutoring from us or a stand alone once monthly invoice is an option!

Step #5: Orientation & You Receive Customized, 1-1 Tutoring from a qualified Shore Strides Tutor
Once a Tutoring Service Session Package is Purchased, a "Parent/Student - Tutor Contract Agreement" will be established at the first tutoring session with the confirmed Tutor. These first 10 minutes of this session are for the 'Orientation' where the Tutor will help the Parent/Student complete the "Parent/Student - Tutor Contract Agreement". The Tutor will show up at least 10 minutes in advance to the first session to not interfere with the 1 hour long session to complete the necessary contract.
*This document will be used by all parties to create a shareable contract agreement so all obligations of both parties are agreed to before tutoring services are performed. A copy of this signed agreement will be made available to all parties and sent via email for record keeping purposes.
